SOCIAL SECURITY

In this chapter, you will find information on the set of measures that safeguard people's wellbeing in Chile:

• Social security system: The social security system covers pensions, healthcare, unemployment insurance, and protection against situations such as disability, maternity, or loss of family income.
• Health and pension coverage: Chile has an individual capitalization pension system and a mixed healthcare system (public system administered by FONASA or private health insurance provided by companies known as ISAPREs).
• Employment and family protection: This includes unemployment and workplace accident insurance, as well as rights related to maternity, paternity, and childcare.
