FREE COMPETITION

In this chapter, you will find information on the regulations that safeguard market competition in Chile:

• Current regulations: The Free Competition Law aims to prevent practices that limit participation in economic activities.
• Responsible institutions: The National Economic Prosecutor’s Office (FNE) investigates anti-competitive conduct; the Court for the Defense of Free Competition penalizes violations; and the Supreme Court rules on appeals.
• Prohibited practices: The law prohibits agreements between competitors, abuse of dominant position, unfair competition, and interlocking directorates.
