The Tente en el Aire project aims to incorporate new mining areas into the Nueva Victoria Operation for the production of iodide, iodine, and nitrate-rich salts, which will result in an increase in the total amount of caliche extracted, as well as in iodide, iodine, and nitrate-rich salts production, and in water usage for these processes.
Headquarters: United Kingdom / Switzerland / Japan
Operational continuity project, extending Life of Mine by 20 years, with increased processing capacity of sulphide copper ore from 170 thousand tons per day (ktpd) to 210 thousand tons per day (ktpd).
Primary Mineral:
Copper
Projected production:
70 ktpa cathodes / 2.9 mil ktpa concentrate
Minera Arqueros is a mineral extraction and processing project that includes the development of an underground mine, the construction of a concentrator plant, and a thickened tailings deposit, which will enable the recovery of between 72% and 75% of the water used, allowing it to be recirculated in the process.
This project aims to resume the extraction of caliche, a key mineral in the production of potassium nitrate, and to extend operations until 2030. The site, which has been inactive since 2019 due to market conditions and operational requirements, represents a key component in SQM’s production strategy for the coming years.
The “Modification and Optimization of the Mantoverde Mining Operation, in the commune of Chañaral, and transport of concentrates to ports in the Mejillones area” Project aims to optimize the operations and processes of sulfide ore at the Mantoverde mining site to increase copper processing capacity.
The "Spence Operational Adjustment" project involves adapting Spence’s current leaching operation, thereby extending the lifespan of this process until the year 2039.
The Costa Fuego project includes a combination of sulfide and oxide material processing that produces both copper concentrate and copper cathodes, as well as silver and molibdenun
The project includes three new phases: two open-pit and one underground under Yerba Loca. It includes water and energy infrastructure without the use of fresh water, and underground mining with backfill for stability, minimizing impacts on the surface.
Exploitation of copper and magnetite mineral reserves from open pits located in the Sierra de Santo Domingo in the municipality of Diego de Almagro. The extracted mineral will be processed using conventional flotation to obtain copper concentrate. The flotation tailings will then undergo a magnetic separation process to obtain magnetite concentrate.
The project seeks to exploit 95 Mt/year and operate until 2033, increasing plant capacity to 14.5 Mt/year and preconcentrate production to 9.8 Mt/year, with expansion of works, operational improvements and adjustments in internal infrastructure.y
The Project extends the operation of the Barreal Seco Mine by 29 years, supplying ore to the Taltal, Las Luces, and Franke plants. It includes pit expansion, enlargement of waste dumps and stockpiles, development of a new south waste dump, relocation of the civic facilities, and complementary installations.
This project extends the useful life, giving operational continuity to the current operation in El Salvador for 47 more years, all through the open pit exploitation of the remaining resources of the main Indio Muerto deposit, exploited since 1959 using panel caving.
Primary Mineral:
Copper
Projected production:
245 ktpa concentrado y 25 ktpa cátodos
The project aims to exploit the El Way Este pit and process limestone through Crushing Plant No. 3 and a lime plant with two vertical kilns, supplied with limestone from both the current El Way Mine and the new pit.
Ensure operational continuity until 2037 for the production of copper cathodes, through the extraction of our own ore from the Papomono underground mine and external ore from our purchasing power.
The El Espino Project consists of the production of copper concentrate with gold content and high-purity copper cathodes, resulting from the open-pit exploitation of the El Espino deposit. It will operate for 16 years within a total life span of 20 years.
Primary Mineral:
Copper
Projected production:
148 ktpa concentrado y 7.2 ktpa cátodos
A project to modernize the current smelter to meet high environmental and production standards, including an electrolytic refinery and a precious metals plant.
Reactivation of previously exploited sectors and integration into the operation of a complementary activity aimed at reprocessing mineral-containing material from previously discarded material, extending the useful life of the operation by an additional 21 years.
Its objective is to build and operate a new gypsum board manufacturing plant for sale in the construction market, with a particular focus on social housing construction, and to expand gypsum mining at the Rubí quarry, which will supply raw materials to the plant.
Primary Mineral:
Gypsum
Projected production:
22 M m2 por año paneles de yeso
Its overall objective is the underground exploitation of the Ciclón and Exploradora mines, with the aim of extracting the polymetallic minerals present in both veins (mainly copper, zinc, silver, lead, and gold), with an estimated useful life of 16 years of operation. The underground mines will be exploited using the “Bench and Fill” method, with both underground mines feeding the Processing Plant.
Primary Mineral:
Copper
Projected production:
6.8 ktpa Sulfato de Cobre y 15.6 ktpa concentrado de Cu
The project seeks to expand and extend the life of the operation, including a concentration plant, a seawater desalination plant, and a desalinated water pumping system.
